Fan joined the IVPL in 2005 after receiving his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. degree in Northwestern University. His primary research is focused on video event analysis and multimedia data mining. Other research interests include image/video processing, pattern classification, machine learning and their application in computer vision.
